… and it all started with a single letter, written in 1959 by Mrs. Davids - an invitation to visit the family farm in southeastern Minnesota - after she heard Mr. Sims on a radio program say that he had never been invited into the home of a white person as a guest.

Recently, the author of South Bend to Spring Valley was interviewed by a reporter from a local newspaper. Two days later, this article appeared on the front page of the Rochester Post-Bulletin!
